...I would ever be able to make an oriental card without any oriental themed stamps. But I turned out to be wrong. Even my husband, who has lived in both Japan and Korea, agreed that my card actually looked quite oriental ;) Sorry for the pic, I was absolutely unable to take a decent shot. And believe me, I tried...
So this is my entry for the Simon Says Challenge blog for this week. I played with red, gold and black. First, the background was heat embossed with red powder to achieve a enameled look. Then I punched three scalloped circles from gold paper and cut a rectangle from metallic red paper to stamp my sentiment on it. On the scalloped circles I used a stamp from a Hero Arts clear set called "Circular designs". I stamped it with black Stazon and then accented with a white gel pen. The sentiment (Arigato, which is japanese for "thank you") is also from a Hero Arts clear set, the "Thank you Sayings" one. And that's how I did it!! Pretty simple really, once I knew what kind of design I was going for.
If you would like to enter the challenge but like me you don't have any proper oriental themed stamps, have a look at the blog anyway, because the DT girls have posted some tips, including a super cool origami technique to make a kimono.
A new challenge is also starting today over at the Hero Arts blog. It's about making a card trying something new or something that you've learned recently. So it's all about celebrating growing as a stamper. And the blog will feature the Hero Hostesses creations for the whole week, so it's really worth visiting!
One last thing: Kristina Werner has available a new Virtual Card Club for this month. This time she made an awesome book with a bunch of Xmas tags inside. I'll be getting it as soon as I finish typing this post! For just $5 you get all the instructions is a very detailed PDF file and that way you help support her blog, which is always full of inspiration, so really worth it! The projects she includes in this VCC can be made over and over, so it's extremely great value.
Ok, enough for today! Hope you all have a great week and thanks so much for visiting!
