A splash of color

Hello there! A splash of color is the challenge over at Lawnscaping this week, so I thought I could give it a try.

For this card you could also go for pink, or for a "we don't want to know" yet color like green or yellow ;) I made this card with one of the super duper cutie Lawn Fawn sets I won in their latest release contest. This one. Yeah, I'm over the moon! Oh, and even the pic doesn't "really" show it, the scored lines look all the same in real life and not like in the pic, where the top and bottom ones look completely faded.

Some great news

Hello everyone! Today I bring you some great news. I'll be joining Joy's Life Design Team for the May-July term. Paper lamps

Hello blogosphere! Have you heard? Chinese paper lamps are trendy ;) And paper piecing... well, paper piecing is always trendy here at Paperella Plays.

So here's a card I made a couple of weeks ago. It features this cutie stamp set by Hero Arts and the sentiment is PTI. The paper is from DCWV and I got it looooooong time ago. I think it belongs to the "retro collection". Really fun patterns :)

Another rejection hop

Hello everyone! I love when someone comes up with a great idea and makes a tradition of it, which is what Amber has done with her Reject Blog Hop (Making rejection look good). I had no luck in the last Paper Crafts submissions call and none of my 25 cards was picked this time (yeah, you read right, 25!). However, I will have a total of 5 cards published between the Stamp It! and the Go-to Sketches special issues, so I feel really lucky already. We'll keep trying ;) 

One of the categories for the September-October issue was canvas and I'm really glad because I had never used this material in my cards before and I had a blast playing with it. The call made me stretch my style and try new things and I'm very grateful for that.

Celebrate today

Hello! I'm exhausted today, so keeping it short and sweet :) The Embellish Magazine challenges came back a few weeks ago and I've been itching to participate. It's one of my fave challenges out there. So this is the beautiful inspiration photo by Tina.

And this is my card. The music notes were clear embossed on kraft, and I just love those big and bold Hero Arts flowers. They're addictive!

Markers + paper piecing = an all time fave

Hey there! This is so typical of me... either I don't blog for weeks or I blog everyday. Maybe being a gemini is to blame ;) So here I am with one of my favorite cards ever...

Do you know when you see a stamp set, and you want to use it in an unconventional way and then a shining light bulb suddenly appears above your head? Well, that happened with this card. I made a bride bouquet with the holly sprig from this Lawn Fawn set. Just stamped it repeatedly on the card front and also on white cardstock that I trimmed and adhered. The bow was paper pieced from the same set and is actually part of a bigger gift image. As I'm still on time and love this card so much, I'm entering it in the paper piecing challenge (details here) and stamping with markers challenge (here) at the Moxie Fab World, and also on the Lawnscaping challenge (here) to use a stamp in a non conventional way.

Markers

Hi there and happy Sunday! Today, I bring you a card where markers take center stage. I love Copics because of their versatility. I'm not good at all at coloring with them, shading etc... But I sure can fill in the stamped lines, and I also love how you can custom color pears, rhinestones, buttons and other stuff with them. In this card I just filled the lines, letting the colored sentiment "shine".

Layered backgound

Hello! How's your weekend? Mine is a relaxed one. Much needed :) So, as the title says, today I'm sharing a card that features the layered background technique. Hero Arts artist Shari Carroll rocks this technique in this article and video. And this is my take on it:

 
Well, I used much bolder colors, but love how it turned out. All the stamps used are Hero Arts. I'm hooked to this big sentiments set lately :)

Cityscapes are trendy

Oh, yes they are. Specially because Cath says it, and she knows a bit about trends ;) So the challenge at the Moxie Fab World is to create a card with a cityscape. This is my take. It's a super, super simple card, but the sentiment I used makes me think of a lonely person inside one of those lighted windows in the inmensity of the city, just thinking of another person. Hope that makes sense, my English can be weird sometimes :)

The rejections blog hop

Hi there and happy Sunday! Ok, so Amber had the most brilliant idea: a blog hop to showcase the cards that didn't made it to the recent Paper Crafts Go-to Sketches issue submissions call. I completely agree that these babies deserve their 5 minutes of glory too, lol!! I've been very lucky and will have a couple of cards published in that issue, but since I submitted 30 cards specially created for the ocassion, I just couldn't not participate in this blog hop, lol!! So thanks Amber for the fantastic idea. And as this card has some paper piecing, let's enter it to the Moxie Fab World Paper Piecing challenge! Details here.

So here it is. I've chosen this one because I find it a super fun card. And after all, paper crafting is all about that: having fun. Getting published is truly a dream come true, but we should never forget why we started crafting in the first place. Having a creative outlet like this is a true joy and a blessing, and I'm sure when you create out of fun and not a bit "forced" out of pressure, it shows. So ladies (and guys too), remember to always have fun and enjoy the process. I know I did with my 30 cards :D
