Summer Card Camp Week 1

Hi there! So yes, I did it. I joined a Summer Camp for the first time in my whole life. How could I not do it when almost all of my favie artists are there teaching their magic? Always love to learn new techniques, new color combos, new ideas, and this is the perfect place for that. So this is my 1st card with this week's color combo. I'm also entering this card for the Stamp it! Challenge at the Moxie Fab World. Find all the details here.

I've had that flower stamp like forever (forever meaning the two years I've been stamping). It belongs to a super cute Sassafrass set, one of the first ones I purchased. It reminds me to Orka Kiely's  signature prints. The sentiment is from this Hero Arts set but as I only wanted the "smile" part, I masked the rest with painter's tape, inked it, removed the tape and stamped. Super easy! I also added diamond stickles to the centre of the flowers.

Stamp It! Cards Volume 8

Good morning! Today is a very special day for me. I get to share with you one of my three first ever published cards. Getting published was one of my crafting goals for this year and when I got that acceptance email (for 3 cards!!!)... well, that was a scene worth remembering :) And now, some months later, it's real and I have in my hands a brand new, glossy and chocking full of stamped inspiration Stamp It! Cards vol. 8 magazine, a special publication from Paper Crafts Magazine. You can get your copy here, run!!!

Joy's Life DT Thursday: 4th of July

Good morning! Welcome to Joy's Life Design Team Thursday! Today the team is celebrating the 4th of July. The internationals, though, were given a bit more freedom: we could create a non 4th card, but taking inspiration from the Americana colors, red, white and blue. So I scanned my stamps and found that Wild Life Puns (find it here) had a fantastic sentiment for the ocassion.

I played with the concept of America as your "Home"... or gnome, in this case ;) The first thing I did was heat embossing the sentiment with blue Zing embossing powder. Then I cut the gnome cap from red cardstock and heat embossed some white stars on it. After that, I placed in where I wanted it on the card and traced the frame with a pencil. This is important, pencil first!! And finally, once I was happy with the frame, I traced over the pencil lines with a fine point red marker.

A bright trigger

Good morning! It's friday!!! Ok, I have a confession to do. Like magpies with blingy stuff, I am insanely drawn to bright things. Patterns, images, paper, you name it. So when I saw Cath's Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World for this week I simply had to play along. And by turning it into a congrats card, it will also be entered in the Gallery Idol auditions.

 

I used PTI Modern Basics for my butterfly/flowers and a sentiment from Enjoy The Ride. I could have simply stamped the outline image on colored cardstock but you know how much I love stamping, so I used the matching solid stamp to add color to the butterflies. Then cut them (very carefully, please, or they'll tear in the middle!), and added some bling. Yeah, there's also a magpie in me ;)

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday with some stamp surgery

Hi there! Isn't my post title a bit weird? lol, I'll soon explain you why :) It will soon be Father's Day in the USA so this week we are focusing in dads. But as I didn't have any father's related stamps in my Joy's Life stash, some serious measures had to be taken...

See my sentiment? It originally said "Happy Cake Day" and belongs to Joy's Yummy Puns stamp set, which you can find here. Love this set! But that didn't stop me from doing a bit of stamping surgery to get the sentiment I needed. I simply cut the stamp (carefully, no one got harmed!), separated the 3 words and  mounted "happy" and "day" on an acrylic block. A new sentiment! And the best part is that I can mount the original saying back too. Joy's Life stamps are made of high quality photopolymer, so they will keep their shape and fit back perfectly. I'm thinking about making a tutorial for stamp surgery, what do you think?

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday

Good morning and welcome to Joy's Life DT Thursday! Let's celebrate summer, shall we? It's my favorite time of the year closely followed by Christmas. I love sun, not for the terrible heat or for burning my skin like a crab, but for the amazing energy it brings to me (along with a few more freckles on my nose!). This card celebrates the great feeling of a Summer Sunday, and the sentiment I used from Joy's Life Yummy Puns stamp set was simply perfect for what I had in mind. You can get it here, lots of fun possibilities there!

 

I covered part of the front with a summery Echo Park patterned paper. Love that bright and cheery banners! Then, I made my own sundae by stamping and paper piecing partially this Hero Arts cup of coffee. For the ice cream I used a PTI cupcake die and it's coordinating stamp. Some May Arts ribbon and baker's twine from The Twinery finish off the card. And the sundae topping? It was made with Enamel Accents. I discovered that stuff thanks to Jennifer McGuire's blog and it's very, very cool to add a pop of white or black to your creations.

Gallery Idol 2011

Ok, so I jumped in the wagon. Who knows? If you don't try... Gallery Idol is an amazing contest put together by Paper Crafts Magazine and inspired in American Idol. Find all the details here. Voting campaign to start later if I make it through the auditions ;)

So on to the card: I used Paper Smooches stamps by Kim Hugues, which are my latest obsession. Lots of paper piecing and a couple of hand made pom poms. I also made the tree, it's super easy, just cut the trunk from kraft, emboss it with a woodgrain plate and ink it to make the woodgrain pop a bit. The branches were stamped and pieced too.

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday

Hi there! It's thursday, which means that Joy's Life Design Team gets to share beautiful creations with the rest of the world :) Today we're introducing a lovely set called Barnyard Puns.  As every Joy's set, it's choking full of cute punny sentiments for lots of occasions. This set holds a special place in my heart because one of the sentiments is a pun in my native languaje, Spanish: "mooochas gracias". Lol! However, I didn't use that one. Today we were asked to think out of the box and make non farm related projects with this set.

And here's my card! I thought that "to pickup your spirits" went perfectly with a basket full of freshly picked flowers. Not peas or carrots or aubergines, but flowers. See? Non farm related at all ;) The ric rac was die cut from felt. I also sponged blue distress ink in the top area of the card, but the image doesn't seem to show it. It's prettier in real like, I promise! The basket and flowers were stamped and pieced from patterned paper.
