Keep Calm

Hello friends! Can you believe what a good blogger I've been this week? ;) Today I'm sharing a card I made this weekend for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge. The deet was to use black and pastels: "the bold and the beautiful". I've had this "Keep Calm" set for a while and I really love it! You can change the crown and the last word for anything you want. Here, I inked the sentiment just partially, left the crown uninked and used a crafty button instead.

PTI March Blog Hop

Happy Sunday, friends! Today I'm joining Papertrey Ink's March Blog Hop. The deet was creating something inspired in a really lovely pic you can find at Nichole's blog.

 

 

As you can see, my inspiration comes from the colors: White, Yellow and Aqua. I used this Studio Calico mask to apply yellow Distress Ink to the base (it's the first time I do this, so cool!). Then I stamped the sentiment from Daydreamer and the trail from Happy Trails. Finally, I stamped one of the images from Beautiful Butterflies on cardstock, cut it and sponged some yellow ink just on the edges. Oh, and I also dabbed some Rock Candy Distress Stickles on that pretty :)

Practical Solutions for Papercrafters Mini Blog Hop

Hi crafty friends! Today we're blog hopping and celebrating a very special Paper Crafts issue: Practical Solutions for Papercrafters.

I really had a blast brainstorming and creating projects for this issue. It forced me to look around and find lots of things that I would never have thought to use on a card: household items, product packaging, the tiniest of scraps... All the designers came out with amazing ideas! You can get your copy here.

One of the features in this issue shows ideas for making 5 cards for $5. Yes, it can be done! And that's what we're showing you in this mini Blog Hop.

For my project I went with the same idea I had featured in the magazine (see pages 156-157): cardstock (I got 5 3x3 card bases out of a $0.20 white Canson sheet and still had tons left!) and a $2.99 stamp set. Instead of buttons and twine, my other "big" investment was a $1.49 sticker sheet full of beautiful sentiments. I also used a simple black pen and a ruler to trace the frames for a little more interest.

2.99 + 1.49 + 0.20 =  $ 4.68

And here they are:

Super easy! I just played around with the different stamps and used a bit of masking too. I can tell you that the hardest part of all the project was taking a decent picture of all the cards together! Which makes me appreciate even more the amazing way that Paper Crafts Magazine has to showcase our projects in print.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Good afternoon! And Happy St. Patrick's Day! Although I'm Spanish, I've celebrated this day since I was very young, because I studied in an Irish school. We wore costumes, sang the school's himn, had lots of games and we remembered the Saint's story (you know, the snakes legend...). So I wanted to stop by today to celebrate with a card :)

After stamping the medallions and sentiment, I debossed the card front twice with a PTI impression plate (moving the card between passes to deboss more areas) because I wanted the pattern to be more noticeable. And I also glittered the clover edges although the camera hasn't captured it too well.

As I used an image, a pattern and a sentiment, this card fits this week's CASual Fridays challenge, so here I go!

Kraft Love

Good evening! Today I'm sharing a little kraft set I put together last week. It includes a To Do notebook, a bookmark and a card. I kept the same design in the three items, with stamping and die cutting taking center stage. My inspiration came from the lots of color-printed-on-kraft patterns I've seen lately, from My Mind's Eye to American Crafts or Lawn Fawn. Love some color on a kraft base! So here's the set (I tried my best with the picture, but I guess it shows I'm not a pro...).

Celebrate today

Hello there! Today's card is already in the hands of it's recipient. My grandma celebrated her 89th birthday today and I made this card for her. I was completely inspired by Laura's card here, at the CASE Study challenge. It would be impossible not to be inspired by Laura Bassen, her clean, graphic and crisp style never ceases to wow me.

So where did I grab my inspiration from? Ok, those hearts reminded me a lot to the rounded wings one of the butterflies in one of my newest PTI sets, Beautiful Butterflies. I also went with 3 of the 4 colors Laura used and I incorporated the diagonal stripes in the form of dry embossing.

I die cut the window with one of this spinner dies, adhered some vellum on the back and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I really love to heat emboss on vellum! The trick is to keep moving your heat tool all the time so that the vellum doesn't warp.
