CFC91: Silver

Hello and welcome to a new CAS-ual Fridays challenge! I guess you have noticed the metallics trend... What? No? C'mon, look around! There's pretty silver and gold almost everywhere these days :)

So with that in mind, this week we have a metalic challenge for you: make a clean and simple project than includes some kind of silver. Check about the wonderful prize for the challenge winner here.

There are many ways to incorporate a silver touch in papercrafting. I went for silver glitter and a cute sequin.

The sentiment is from this CAS-ual Fridays Stamps set and I also stamped a Hero Arts background for a little more interest :) Letters were colored (but of course!) with Inktense pencils and a waterbrush.

CFC90: Black and white plus one

Hello and happy Friday! And happy new CAS-ual Fridays challenge too :) I'm a bit late with my post for today because of internet problems. It seems to be very common during the rainy season around here. Light, telephone and internet comes and goes...

Ok, so this week the challenge is to create a CAS project using black, white and a pop of another color of your choice. Our sponsor is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, yay!!! My color of choice was aqua-teal.

I heat embossed the gorgeous big bloom from Loving Thoughts and added a sentiment from Casual Elegance. To embellish this little number I used a flat black sequin and a bit of washi tape. Done :)

Watercolor

Hello! Still experimenting with my Inktense pencils. I just don't get tired of them. They make watercoloring sooooo easy!

Lucky me, today's Papertrey Ink challenge is about watercoloring, so I couldn't resist making a little something.

First, I die cut the cute ric rac heart and completely glittered it. Second, I die cut the simple heart and heat embossed one of the images from With all my heart. And of course, next step was using my pencils and a waterbrush to add the watercolor effect. They blend beautifully, lookie :)

I finished the tag with a snippet of Limeade Ice twill tape.

CAS Card Making II -Day 9-

Hi again! Back with some more homework for Clean and Simple Card Making II class. This is for day 9, textures. Once again, sorry for the pics, I took them with my iPhone and almost without light. Photoshop helped, but still...

Ok, so first I played with glitter.

This is probably the most technically crazy card I've ever made. The die cut is embeded in the pannel and I made the huge mistake of adhering my glittered pannel to another piece of cardstock before die cutting, so the die didn't cut all the way through and it was really, really hard to take out the die cut branches (the glitter ones) to embed the black ones. I ended up using scissors to help me, and x-acto knive and almost an hour later the die cut came out and I could reassemble the glitter pannel to embed the black die cut. I ended up exhausted! Ha!

Second, I tried Lisa Spangler's technique of adding texture with embossing, but I did it debossing a bloom die on my card. Looking at the end result, I'm not sure if I love the artsy look, of if the watercoloring (hello again, Inktense pencils!) makes it look like my 5 year old son made this card.

I also added some pearlized mist straight with my fingers on the blooms.

CAS Card Making II -Day 8-

Hey there! Happy Sunday! I'm way behind on my homewrok for Clean and Simple Card Making II class, but I'm trying to catch up. Day 8 was about some inky techniques and here are my humble attempts to put to work what I learned in class.

First, a tribute in the form of a tag to the queen of stamped plaid, Laura Bassen. Her video for the class was awesome and super funny! Franckly, stamping lines, inking, cleaning, inking, stamping and so on is as relaxing as stamping hundreds of dots (see here). I loved the process!

I finished the tag with sequins and a heat embossed bubble sentiment. The embossing allowed me to sponge some ink on it to color the letters.

Next, a bookmark that has already been put to good use by my husband. I tried to reproduce Kristina's cool technique with salt, but it didn't worked. I used Inktense pencils for my background instead of Distress Markers, so maybe it has something to do with that.

The process: I scribbled with the pencils on a die cut bookmark, and then went over it with a water brush and blended the colors. After heat setting with my heat gun I used and alpha stamp set to stamp "here", and an arrow. Finally, some of my brand new washi tape. Aren't that triangles gorgeous?

CFC89: Love Song

Hello friends! Yay for Fridays! I need some rest crafting after an exhausting week at work ;) Maybe with some music in the background to inspire me. Have you ever made a card inspired by a song? I just did that here a few weeks ago. And I'm doing it again today, because our challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to make a project inspired by a song! Will you join us?

I was inspired by a song that always puts me in a great mood. One of those songs that makes you want to dance no matter how tired you are. It's "Raise your glass", by Pink.

 

My card shows a lot of different stamps. A background (that circles try to represent some bubbles), a sentiment and a banner. Oh, and a big graphic ampersand too, because this song is big and bold ;)

CAS Card Making II -Day 7-

Hey there! It's back to work for me this week (and lots of work!), which means I'm not able to keep up to date with the Clean and Simple Cardmaking II class. I'm a day and a half behind, boo!

So here's my card for day 7. A single layer card where I played with a little stamp. I chose that cute card with a hear shaped window and a Hero Arts sentiment from a set I just got and love.

Started with a piece of Hero Arts layering paper. It's the first time I use it and it's amazing for stamping! The first thing I stamped was the sentiment. Then I measured with a ruler and traced some lines with a pencil to mark the spots for the little cars. Once I was happy with the cars, I stamped 3 tiny hearts, glittered them and colored the rest of the windows with a white pencil.

Also, the washi tape strip? It wasn't planned. I had taped the pannel to my desk so it wouldn't move while I stamped. And when I removed the tape, I sligthly ripped the cardstock (talk about craftsmanship, huh?). So I used the tape to hide the oops.

CAS Card Making II -Day 6-

Good morning! Back with my homework for day 6 of Clean and Simple Cardmaking II. I have to confess that I still haven't had time to watch the videos, crazy day around here yesterday, but last night I sat and at least played with the sketches. I made two different versions of Kristina's sketch.

This first one is a super free take on the sketch, but I love, love, love it. My husband came back yesterday after a week in Spain and guess what he brought me? A 24 box of Inktense pencils! They are beyond amazing! Truth is, there's not a product recommended by Jennifer McGuire that hasn't worked great.

So for this card i just scribbled some colors on watercolor cardstock, watered them down, dried with my heat gun and then stamped the sentiment. The arrows anf lowers are 3rd generation stamping (I stamped the images on scratch paper twice and then on the card without reinking). The sequins have been sitting unused in my stash for years... not anymore :)

And here's the second version. Here I played around with texture.

 

I started stamping the Hero Arts background and heat embossed in clear. The die cut circles piece has been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks, so there it went. Finally, I covered a strip of cardstock with narrow washi tape (also brought by husband in his magic suitcase, hehe!), die cut the banner and stamped a partially inked sentiment also by Hero Arts.

Dressed up box

Hi again! I had a bit of spare time this afternoon, so I decided to play in this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink. The challenge is to dress up a box, so I die cut one of their Favor It Bags and went stamping crazy ;)

First I stamped the text from Background Basics: Hearts and over it I stamped kind-of-a plaid using Background Basics: Super Stripes and the narrow stripe from Faux Ribbon. Finally, I heat embossed a sentiment and a heart from Think Big Favorites #23 and added a little glitter heart that was leftover on my desk from a previous project.

I like how it turned out! However, I'm not sure about how they celebrate Valentine's day in Bolivia or of they celebrate it at all. Let's hope they do so I can put this bag to good use :)
