Hey there! As promised, I'm back with my homework for Day 2 of the Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes.
Yesterday's lesson was about interactive Christmas cards, and I made two different cards: one inspired by Jennifer with a removable ornament and another one inspired by Chari's shaker card. In this post I'm sharing the first card.
I switched the circle ornament for a star shaped one, and instead of using holly I went for a bokeh inspired background stamped over a Hero Arts starry background. The first time I stamped the dots, the starry background previously stamped with pigment ink was not showing, probably because I used light colored inks. My solution for this was re-stamping the dots again, so the impression darkened, hoping the contrast would be higher. It worked :)
I didn't have a die that would work for the size of the star ornament, so I used a small Memory Box alphabet die set and heat embossed the letters in gold. Finished the card with some pearls I turned gold with a Pilot gold marker. What are pearls, you ask? They are lovely round ornaments that existed pacifically way before the enamel dots and sequins invaded planet craft. Ask your grandmother ;)
Another thing I did was adhering a kraft die cut star behind the ornament, with a sentiment heat embossed, so that when the ornament is removed the card still looks finished. For the edges of the card I made a scor-tape frame and heat embossed it with gold powder.
And a closer look to the ornament:
There we are! Back later with my second card. Thanks for stopping by!
Ohhhh, that is so clever! I love the idea of a card that comes with a gift!

This card is so cute, I love that you didn't use traditional christmas colors.
