Hello, friends! How is your week going? Hang in there, just one more day for the weekend!!! In the mean, I have two cards for you showing some ideas with Pattern Play stamp set. This is one of my favorite sets from the Waffle Flower Crafts January release. It's terribly versatile!
All the different borders can be mixed and matched. You could stamp them overlapped, build a plaid pattern, stripes, polka dots... Lots of possibilities, really. Today I'm sharing two simple ideas that still create a lot of impact.
First, the solid stripes border. This one has two long stripes in the same stamp (one wide and one thick), which makes stamping a full bakground super quick. I love building patterns with stamps and I have a whole Pinterest board full of pattern inspiration. For this card I wanted to replicate this pattern. It's simple but still has a lot of visual interest.
Here's my card:
I stamped the stripes with yellow pigment ink. Two tips: 1. A gridded acrylic block helps to space the stripes evenly. And 2. I didn't want the stripes to overlap, so before stamping the lower part of the pattern I placed a post it note in the exact point where the stripes would meet to mask it.
The sentiment is from In Every Way stamp set. I love the contrast between the swirly calligraphy and the graphic background. For the enamel dots I was between blue or grey, but I finally chose blue. Makes the card look happier :)
Second comes a card that uses one of the patterns from the set as a visual accent as well as the stamps I contributed to the new DT Mix stamp set (chunky flowers and "Hola" sentiment). Stamp any pattern in black and white and you'll have guaranteed impact on your card!
All the images were stamped on the card base and then I added the coral panel on top. The circle was cut with Flower Circles die set. I adore the tiny dots it debosses on the outer edge of the circle!
At the last moment I almost added some twine wrapped around the pannel, under the circle, but I finally decided to leave the card alone and let the stamping shine. What do you think? Too much white space? Enough? I'd love to hear! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Awesome technique, love it!
