Hi friends! Today I have two different color cards inspired by the same color combo. I used some colors that immediately grabbed my attention when Nina posted them for the Waffle Flower Crafts Challenge some weeks ago. That challenge is now over, but there's another one going on with a very interesting inspiration image too!
Here are the colors I used. I can't pass a cheery and bright one like this, even if I'm totally late to the party!
For the first card I incorporated the color combination by using the ink blending technique. I started by masking a rectangle on the card front, and then went in with an ink blending tool and 3 different colors of Distress Ink. It works best (for me at least) to start with the lightest colors and move on to the darkest ones.
Once all the blending was done, I removed the mask and stamped the main image and a sentiment from Potted stamp set in black.
I loved that background so much that I didn't add embellishments in order to let the colors shine.
On the second card, I incorporated the color combo in two different ways: stamping and with custom embellishments. This one reminds me to the circus :)
I built that pattern stamping the sun ray from Rain Check stamp set repeatedly in fuchsia, orange and red. The custom sentiment is from Bowtiful stamp set. I heat embossed it on a black cardstock strip. Bowtiful is a set from Waffle Flower's first release and to this day it is still one of my go-to sets. It has so many different sentiments!!!
The embellishments are wood veneer diamonds that I inked with the same pigment ink colors I used for stamping. To do this, simply smoosh the diamonds on the ink pad and then add clear embossing powder and heat set it (use tweezers to hold the wood veneers so you don't burn your fingers!) . This will seal the ink on the wood and also provides a cool shiny finish.
That's it from me today! Have a wonderful Thursday!
