Holiday Card Workshop: Bonus Day

Hi friends! Here I am with my homework for the Bonus Day we got last Saturday on the Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes. Tle classes were about coloring, something I'm not very good at. But I did my best :)

This card is inspired by the amazing lesson from Kathy Racoosin. There's nothing that lady can't do with a marker and a white gel pen. Nothing.

 

 

I used a Hero Arts poinsettia and chose an unconventional color for it: shades of teal, one of my favorite colors. And well, I followed Kathy's instructions when coloring it with markers, but still I didn't get a stunning contrast in the shades. I guess it's a matter of practice :) Oh, and I can't believe I haven't a single holly outline stamp in my Christmas collection.

 

 

For the poinsettia center I used red stickles, and added a few white lines. Finished the card with a sentiment die cut with the Silhouette Cameo and heat embossed several times with red embossing powder. I love to do this!

Holiday Card Workshop: Day 1 - Take 2

And hello again! As promised, I'm back with a second card as my homework for the Holiday Card Shop at Online Card Classes. You can check my first card for today here.

This one was inspired by Debby Hughes. Gosh, everything she makes is so perfect and dreamy!!! Not to mention the amazing photographs she takes. I highly recomment visiting her blog, inspiration abounds!

Ok, this is what I came up with:

 

 

Debby's video and card inspired me in the following ways: layout, a half gold embossed tag, die cut sentiment accross, ornament to the left.

I die cut my tag from patterned paper. Instead of the gold splatters, I decided to add some interest to the background by scoring some diagonal lines. It's subtle but gives a bit of texture, and it's fast to do.

 

 

The sentiment and berry branch were die cut with the Silhouette Cameo. Another quick way to mass produce shapes without effort. Once I had them die cut, I coated them in Versamark and heat embossed with red powder for the sentiment and white for the branch. I finished everything with some rhinestone-berries. Look at the gorgeous shine!

Oh Happy Day

Hello there! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Today I have a card for the Hip on Handwriting challenge at the Moxie Fab World.

I love the handwriting trend, but I have to confess that at first I didn't get all the craze about paint-brushed letters. The delicate, classic callygraphy fonts were so much more appealing to me. But I guess they've grown on me after seeing them popping everywhere, so there you go: I made a card with that kind of font.

 

 

I started with a background stamped with Altenew's Painted Flowers, which is probably one of the most beautiful and well designed sets I've ever seen. I went with grey, aqua and teal for the flowers.

 

 

The brushed letters were die cut with the Cameo using this freebie alphabet. Instead of die cutting them from black cardstock, I used white cardstock and then colored it using a black copic marker. It doesn't show much in the pic, but it adds to the hand painted look.

 

 

The "Happy" comes from Hey Mr stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts. The sentiment used for the fonts in this set is really versatile and blends in really well when combined in sentiments with other fonts.

Brilliant

And once again... *drumroll*... I'm late to Taheera's Cure for the Monday Blues challenge. I know, right? I know. It's no excuse, but time difference drives me crazy!

Anyway, here's what I did inspired by this week's image. My inspiration trigger was the throw that is on the pink couch in the image.

 

 

 Background stamped with Trifecta by Mama Elephant. The "Brilliant" word die cut is an old freebie file from Kristina Werner that I cut with the Cameo. And the "You're" is from Simply Tags: Christmas by Nina for Avery Elle. What else? Oh, the tiny stars! I die cut them from wooden paper, inspired by the table in the image. I finished the card with a strip of narrow washi tape.

Hexagons take II

Hello there! I have another take on the hexagons challenge at the Moxie Fab World. For my first hexagons card (here) I die cut a pletora of hexagons and was left with lots of outline hexagon pieces.

And of course, I couldn't throw them away. So I resorted to my favorite way to use scraps and leftovers: a tag. Here it is.

 

I used a spare tag that was already on my desk and adhered a few of the leftover hexagon outlines. I think they make a great background :)

The big "You're" was die cut with the Cameo for another project and never got used (until now, ha!). So basically, the only thing I made specifically for this tag was die cutting the banner and heat embossing "awesome" on it.

Shades of Grey

Happy Sunday, guys! Are you celebrating Mardi Gras? In Bolivia, "Carnaval" is such a big and colorful thing! And the best is that we get two festive days. Which means a bit more crafting time. Which means I have  a card ;)

Have you heard the news at CAS-ual Fridays challenge? There's an amazing new team, and a few great changes. After two years as a Girl Friday, it will always be a challenge dear to me, and of course I had to play along in their first challenge of this "new era": use two shades of grey.

And this is what happened:

 

 

It all started with a super cool stencil I die cut with the Cameo using the new SRM stencil material. This stuff is simply amazing! Perfect thickness and sticky backed with a protector film you peel off. I'm thinking about posting a tutorial soon :)

 

 

Ok, so I used the stencil to sponge two shades of grey (Fresh Ink) on pink cardstock. Then I stamped and embossed  the gorgeous bloom from Nina's Love Notes. The sentiment is from the same set (it reminds me to a dymo tag). Finally, I die cut the panel, adhered it to the card base with foam tape and threw in some gold Stickles.I debated between adding white enamel accents (the liquid one) or gold glitter. Gold won.

Guesting on the Runway!

Hello friends! Guess what? Today I'm joining the Runway Inspired Challenge girls as a guest designer! I love, love, love the whole concept and would have never imagined than an outfit could be interpreted so many ways. Oh, but it sure can... just take a look at the RIC archives. Amazing.

Ok, so I guess this is the closer this 1,55 metres girl will ever be to a runway, ha! Here's the inspiration outfit. It's one of Diane Von Furstenberg's signature wrap dresses, this time in a striking geometric print.

My take on it is based on the colors and the geometry. I used a crazy ammount of white space to draw the attention to the focal panel, and let it "breathe" at the same time. Does that make sense?

 

I designed the panel on the Cameo software. The striped rectangle is a premade design from the Silhouette store, so I just typed the sentiment in a slim font (to mimic the model's body) and welded it to the rectangle. Once everything was die cut, I cut narrow strips of colored cardstock with my trimmer and adhered them to the back of the rectangle. A bit time consuming, but pretty relaxing too :)

CFC128: So long...

Hi everyone! Today's post is a bittersweet one, as it's my last one as a Girl Friday at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. I still remember the ginormous happinness I felt when I received Michele's acceptance email after I applied for the team, and I will always be thankful to her for this great chance to be part of such a wonderful challenge. And specially for the friendships I've made. Thanks so much for everything, Michele! You're one amazing lady and I'll do my best to keep playing  :)

But wait! There's still a new challenge up and running. The deet is to make farewell cards that are longer than the average card. There's a fab Cas-ual Fridays Stamps prize up for grabs, so play along!

 

Here's my farewell card. I started with a scor-tape strip covered with glitter. You know, farewells need a bit of drama, right? The plaid was stamped with the lines from WTF, which was the first stamp set Michele released. And the colors, of course, are CAS-ual Fridays signature blue and orange (actually, the blue should have been more a tealish one, but well...). The bold sentiment was die cut with the Cameo. Yes, again ;)

¿And that tiny bow? It's a die designed by Nina Yang for Avery Elle. You can find it here but beware... it's addictive!

CFC125: In a Word

Hello there! Today we're bringing you the first CAS-ual Fridays Challenge of 2014! The challenge is to choose a word that describes what you hope for the new year and use it on your project. Fun :)

I haven't made a New Year resolutions list, but I definitely have a word for this year. Well, I actually have three: resolve, persistence, determination. In other words: I have to work to make things happen. I find that I tend to be lacking in perseverance, so that's my goal for 2014: more effort and less procrastination ;)

 

 

That said, here's my card. A bit of die cutting with the Cameo and a bit of stamping + perfect pearls (I can't put them down!)  to translate my 2014 goal into a card.

CFC123: Let it Snow...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... aaaah. I wish! But here in South America rainy season is in full swing! When we have a sunny day it is truly glorious, but it is rain most of the time. No snow in Christmas for me, boo! But at least I have snowflakes. Snowflakes stamps, that is :)

I went all snowy and seasonal with a little gift box.

 

 

The box was die cut with the Cameo (but you already knew, right?). Then I stamped a strip of kraft wrapping paper with the pretty snowflakes from this CFS set. To finish the box, I die cut and stamped a banner and a sentiment from this WPlus9 set I just got (and love!). Finally, I colored some rhinestones and adhered them to the box. Done :)
