A card for June's Waffle Flower Challenge

Hello friends! Definitely time flies, and it's just time for a new Waffle Flower Challenge! You can check all the details here. And have you checked Waffle Flower Crafts newest release? It's a great one and there are new gorgeous dye inks with the coolest names!

 Ok, so this month's inspiration image is stunning, and can be "read" in so many different ways. For my card I used the colors, the florals and the bautiful golden glow of the picture itself.

 

 

I stamped, masked and stamped again one of the blooms from Lotus stamp set, and did the same with the stems.Once I was done with my stamping, I watercolored everything with distress inks. I also watercolored an outline for the images using light blue ink, which helps making the images pop, and also fits the challenge color scheme.

 

 

For the sentiment, I stamped and white heat embossed the "Celebrate" from Congrats stamp set in a strip of gold cardstock (here's where the golden glow from the pic comes in!) and finished the card with three scattered sequins for good measure.

Clique Kits & Friends June Blog Hop

Hello there! Today the kind folks from Clique Kits invited the girls from the Waffle Flower Crafts DT to hop with them! I worked with the June Kit, called Dream Quest, which has lots of Crate Paper products and gorgeous embellishments. And even though it's a collection perfect for Travel themed projects, I chose to travel other paths...

My first project is a card, using patterned paper from the Kit and stamps from Waffle Flower. I started covering a card base with that cool chevron paper and then trimmed one of the journaling cards from another of the paper sheets. I love stamping on journaling cards! So I created a little scene.

 

 

I used the cow from Monochrome stamp set, the daisies from A Bunch stamp set and built a custom punny sentiment with the alphabet from Be My Guest stamp set.

 

 

Next, I framed the journaling card with a piece of black cardstock and adhered it to the card with foam tape. Then, I added two enamel dots to the flower centers and called it a day :)

Moving on to the second project: A pillow gift box.

 

 

This feather paper is so pretty! I was tempted to hoard it, but then I decided to be a good girl and put it to use. I die cut the pìllow box and assembled it. Second, I stamped and embossed the banner from Congrats stamp set on the cork patterned paper from the Kit. Cork printed paper, like woodgrain paper, is such a basic! I was super happy to see there was a whole 12x12 sheet in this Kit.

 

 

I die cut the Congrats die, adhered it to the banner and embellished everything with stars and arrows from the cute puffy stickers sheet also included in the Kit.

Tombow and Waffle Flower Blog Hop

 

 

Hello and welcome to the Tombow + Waffle Flower Crafts Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Jennie Garcia's blog or, if you got lost in the way, you can head to the hop start here.

It was super fun to play around with Tombow's products, and they pair so beautifully with Waffle Flower's stamps and dies! Not to mention, a good array of adhesives is simply priceless when it comes to paper crafting.

I have two projects today, so let's get started. First, there's a shaker card:

 

 

The stars of the show are the gorgeous Doily Square stamp set and the Tombow Dual Brush Pens. I received the Brights set and I couldn't be happier!

 

 

I started stamping and coloring the square doily and then I trimmed it to form the window for the shaker. On the inside area I stamped a sentiment from Congrats stamp set. The shaker is filled with assorted sequins, microbeads, and a few Tiny Star die cuts that I cut from white cardstock and colored with the Tombow markers.

 

 

The Foam Tape was perfect to build the shaker part and I used the Tombow Xtreme Adhesive to adhere it to the card base. That baby is not going anywhere ;)

My second project is a tag that uses A Bunch stamp set and Tombow's Adhesive Dots. These are super fun because they're colored!

 

 

I started with a tag base die cut from Surface - Tag Die - Starter kit. Next, I stamped both the outline and solid daisies from A Bunch set using inks 9, 15 and 16 from the Summer Blend Inkpad. I thought the adhesive dots would be fun to use in the center of the flowers, covered with glitter. The banner sentiment is from the same set.

Hello, friends! All good things come to an end and today is my final week as the May guest designer for My Favorite Things Card Challenges blog. I've had a blast! Not to mention how wonderful it has been to design along with that amazing DT and to work with Susan :)

Here's this week's sketch:

 

This time, instead of a card, I made a masculine gift bag playing with patterned paper, stamps and dies. And once again, my take on the sketch is very, very free, ha!

 

 

I started adhering a patterned paper piece to the front of the bag. The Die-namics Cross Stitch Square STAX provided the perfect base for the focal point, where I stamped a sentiment from For the Boys stamp set. The cute bow tie was die cut from Die-namics Terrific Ties and the stitched banner is one of the many awesome dies included in the Die-namics Blueprints 25.

Guesting at the MFT Challenge: Sketch 229

Well, hello there! Wednesday means a new sketch at the My favorite Things Challenge blog and a new opportunity to stretch your creativity. Today's sketch is a great one with many interpretations:

 

 

I turned it on it's side and exchanged the triangles for pretty flowers using a partial die cutting technique. You may think that I used colors a bit uncommon for this time of the year. Here's why: I live in the Southern Hemisphere and it's Fall here right now! Hence the autumnal colors :)

 

 

For the background, I used one of my favorite tips for cardmaking. When in doubt, add texture! It always, always, always works. I heat embossed the MFT Woodgrain Background in clear and then sponged ink on the edges. Flowers are from the MSTN Build-able Blooms set and the sentiment comes  from LJD For the Boys set.

MFT Challenge Guestie: Sketch 228

Good morning and happy Wednesday! I'm back with the newest My favorite Things Challenge. Another week, another sketch. Check it:

 

 

 

My interpretation of the sketch was liberal. Very liberal, indeed, so let me explain myself  ;) The stems replace the long rectangle and the flower tops were arranged in a slight semicircle to resemble the circle shape from the sketch. See? It may be a free interpretation, but all the sketch elements are in there.

 

 

I had a blast mixing and matching the elements from the just released Build-able Blooms stamp set and coordinating dies. The stitched card base and green bottom piece (sorry, no idea how to name that shape more accurately) come from Die-namics Blueprints 25 and the sentiment is from For the Boys stamp set.

A Gentleman card: MFT Challenge guest designer

Hello there! Have I ever mentioned that May is my favorite month? Spring in full bloom, warm weather, my birthday... and the cherry on top this year: I'm the May guest  designer at My Favorite Things Card Challenges! I couldn't be happier to get to work with Susan, and to play with the MFT May release, which has lots of cool products :)

Ok, so this is what I came up with for the first challenge of the month (Sketch 227). Confession: Sometimes I have a hard time translating a sketch into a card. At that times, I always find helpful to simplify the sketch as much as possible and that's what I did this time! I went for very simple lines and let the bright colors do the spicing up.

Inlaid die cutting with Waffle Flower Crafts

Hi everyone! By now, it's clear that one of the big hits of the last Waffle Flower Craft release have been the absolutely gorgeous doily dies: the square and the circle. They've quickly become a favorite, right? So I thought I would share and idea to get even more mileage from the doily circle die.

 

 

I made some industrial engineering inlaid die cutting using the inner portion of the doily. To do this, I first die cut the doily from white cardstock, and carefully trimmed the outer parts. Second, I die cut the doily again from different cardstock colors and saved the negative pieces.

 

 

Next, I die cut a circle from a double sided adhesive sheet and adhered it to the back of the doily, so the adhesive face would show in the open areas. This allowed me to easily insert the positive pieces from the doilies I had die cut from colored cardstock.

 

 

Once I had this pretty and colorful doily ready I decided to keep the rest of the things simple. I stamped the "Smile" sentiment from Doily Circle stamp set directly onto the doily. Because I stamped on an irregular and "bumpy" surface, I got some gaps in my stamped sentiment. How to fix this? Easy! With a black fine point pen. It's a super easy way to fill in any areas that didn't stamp properly.

 

 

Finally, I stamped a banner and a sentiment from the same set on vellum and adhered everything on a piece of grey cardstock that I spiced up a bit by sponging white ink on the edges. I love the "smokey" result, and how much it softens the final result!
