Merry, merry, merry!

Hello, hello! I have a fun Waffle Flower Crafts Christmas card to share with you today. I could really make Christmas cards all year round, that's how much I love this time of the year! I couldn't resist accesorizing the three cuties from Willy & Friends stamp set with all the fun stuff from Stocking stamp set and coordinating dies.

 

 

I used the partial die cutting technique with the Willy & Friends dies to make the main panel. Once the monkeys were stamped and colored with Copic markers, I stamped, die cut and colored the accessories from Stocking stamp set. The sentiment also comes from that set.

 

 

To increase the merry factor I added a red glitter strip to the panel, and finally adhered everything on a card base covered with patterned paper. Fun!

 

 

And there you go! Another one for the Christmas cards pile. Now if only I were this effective for sending them... ha! Thanks for stopping by!

 

 

Gift Packaging ideas with Waffle Flower Crafts

Hi everyone! Christmas will be here in just a week, friends! Eek! Do you have all the shopping and gift wrapping done? Well, in case you still have some little gifts to pack, I have a couple of wrapping ideas for you using Waffle Flower Crafts stamps and dies.

The fist one is a very merry pillow box. It can fit jewelry or a gift card, for example.

 

I die cut the box from patterned paper with the Silhouette Cameo and then went to town decorating it. I started with a white cardstock strip where I stamped a sentiment from Holiday Labels - Merry. Once it was adhered, I die cut the leafy vine and the bow from Loved stamp set. I love that this set has coordinating dies!

 

 

The bow was heat embossed in gold. Then I added the berries. I used a tiny circle punch. Here's a trick: I wanted the berries to be the very exact red as the box, so I punched the tiny circles from a scrap of the same patterned paper. You could also use tiny rhinestones or pearls, or add dots of red glitter glue.

 

 

The second idea is a gift bag. I used the WRMK Gift Bag Punch Board to make the bag and had a lot of fun dressing it up!

 

Some green cardstock straps came in very handy to make the stripes. I just trimmed the scraps to the same width and adhered them with scor-tape.

 

For the label, I used Holiday Label 1 die to die cut the label from patterned paper. Then I stamped and heat embossed the coordinating label outline from Holiday Labels - Merry. Next, I stamped and heat embossed the big tag that comes in the same set, and trimmed it partially so I could fit it perfectly inside the label.

 

I finished the bag with bakers twine and some glittery dots that I've had in my stash forever. They're super cute!

Things to do with a little Christmas ornament

And I'm back! Hello friends! Live got busy around here and I haven't been able to stamp a lot lately. I missed it badly! But yesterday I finally carved some time to play with my Waffle Flower Crafts goodies and today I have a couple of ideas to share.

When I get a stamp set, I tend to skip the obvious, biggest show-stealer images and "explore" the set to find the smaller companion images. There are always some hidden gems in there! That's the case with the small Christmas ornament you can find in Holiday Labels - Merry stamp set. I love the graphic feel!

 

So let's start with a card:

 

 

 

I stamped and heat embossed the ornament in red, blue and lime green cardstock, and heat embossed it using gold, red, blue and lime green embossing powders. Then I fussy cut them (super relaxing!) and used as craft knive to make the hole in the hanger part.

 

 

I wanted to add a little detail to them, so I masked the lower part of the ornament and used a Versamarker pen to color just the upper portion and heat embossed it in gold to make a metal hanger like ones in the real ornaments. It's super easy to do! You can also use a gold pen for this, but I just love heat embossing :)

 

 

A bit, uh, ok, a LOT of masking was involved in the sentiment too (it comes from the same stamp set). I masked each part so I could heat emboss it in different colors. All in all it only took around 5 minutes and the result is so happy and colorful! The strings to hang the ornaments were drawn with a Copic multiliner pen.

 

 

I also made a simpler tag.

 

 

I die cut the tag from Surface - Tag Die - Starter Kit and used a pencil and a roll of scor tape I had on my desk to trace the hanging strings. Then, I stamped the ornaments straight on the tag and the sentiment, which is from A Homemade Christmas stamp set.

 

 

Again, I modified the ornaments a bit coloring the hanging part with a metallic Sharpie in silver. Also added shine to the ornaments with a Wink of Stella clear pen. And instead of tracing the strings, I added tiny dots to it with a Copic multiliner. Looks more festive to me this way :)

Treemendous Trees

Hello, friends! Today I have a card for the Tree-mendous Trees challenge at the Moxie Fab World. As many of you know, this week Paper Crafts Magazine is closing it's doors. I'm still speechless and pretty much trying to digest the news. I'll write a post about this in the future, but for now it's still painful to do it. Also, I've never been one to cry the death of something that is still alive. So here I am, playing at the MFW as long as we still can do it.

 

 

I used this geometrical set and a sentiment from PTI.

 

 

Before adhering the panel, I adhered two strips of scor tape to the edges of the card and sprinkled them with glitter.

 

 

I was saving this idea for next's year Holiday Cards & More special issue. As it will no longer be, I thought I might as well share it on the Moxie Fab place. I highly encourage you to play along!

Holiday Card Workshop: Day 5

Ooooops! I almost forgot to share a couple more things I made based on the Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes.

So without further ado here's one of them. This is homework for Day 5 and is based on a tag-gift card holder by Kristina Werner.

 

 

I used the same measures and overall design she gave in class, but I changed a few things. I made the sentiment the star of the show and used a few die cut stars as embellishment. I also covered the whole front with patterned paper. This class has helped me dehoard some of my older Christmas patterned paper pads :)

 

 

For stamping the sentiment I partially masked it, so I could use two different colors. Love how the heat embossing in the middle turned out. The sentiment is from this Hero Arts Naughty or Nice set.

I'm also entering this project in the Anything Goes cathegory of the current Hero Arts Blog Holiday challenge.

Holiday Card Workshop: Bonus Day

Hi friends! Here I am with my homework for the Bonus Day we got last Saturday on the Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes. Tle classes were about coloring, something I'm not very good at. But I did my best :)

This card is inspired by the amazing lesson from Kathy Racoosin. There's nothing that lady can't do with a marker and a white gel pen. Nothing.

 

 

I used a Hero Arts poinsettia and chose an unconventional color for it: shades of teal, one of my favorite colors. And well, I followed Kathy's instructions when coloring it with markers, but still I didn't get a stunning contrast in the shades. I guess it's a matter of practice :) Oh, and I can't believe I haven't a single holly outline stamp in my Christmas collection.

 

 

For the poinsettia center I used red stickles, and added a few white lines. Finished the card with a sentiment die cut with the Silhouette Cameo and heat embossed several times with red embossing powder. I love to do this!

Holiday Card Workshop: Day 4 - Take 2

Good morning! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! Popping in quickly to share card two for Day 4 of the Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes.

I can't believe that for once I am more or less keeping with the pace! This card was inspired in the techniques shared by the delightful Laura Bassen.

 

 

I had this little houses die from Memory Box and I thought they would be perfect for this technique. First, I masked and inked the background. Then,  I die cut the houses from acetate to make my own stencil. I used the negative portion for the colorful houses, and then the positive (the actual acetate little houses) to add the doors and windows with white pigment ink. A LOT of masking tape and posts it were involved, ha!

 

 

I used all Distress Inks. Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Chipped Saphire for the background, The houses -ala Bassen rainbow style- are Festive Berries, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry. The sentiment is Technique Tuesday.

Holiday Card Workshop: Day 4

Hello there! And no, the title of this post is not wrong. I've jumped from Day 2 to Day 4 because my Day 3 watercolored cards are still on the making. So today I have three cards to share from Day 4 of  he Holiday Card Workshop at Online Card Classes. This time it's all about one layer cards.

My first one is based on Jennifer's lesson, a window card with partial die cutting.

 

 

I went for a circle window where I fitted the lovely bow from Loved stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts. I used the bow coordinating die.

 

 

On the inside I stamped some images from the same set in Christmas colors. Everything was stamped with pigment ink, so I could clear heat emboss it. The reason for this is that I left the background inking for last, and the if flowers and vines weren't protected by the clear embossing powder, they would have smudged when I started blending the blue ink on the background. Hope that makes sense!

 

 

Here's another pic. The sentiment is from a veeeeery old Hero Arts set that has lots of Christmas sentiments in every possible size and font.
