Tags, anyone?

Hello and happy Saturday! Back with another post, and today it's all about tags. I really feel confortable working in small surfaces. Cards better that layouts, tags better that cards... You get it :)

One of my latest purchases were Nina Yang's tags stamp set and dies for Avery Elle. Endless possibilities with this stuff! Once I started playing around I couldn't stop. And here's the result. I tried lots of different things!

 

First, my first try at the oh so popular chalkboard art

 

Gold embossing on the second one

 

Colorful gifts on the third. I used a glitter pen to highlight the ribbon and bows in the gift image

 

I also made two small tags. In this one I used blooms from another Avery Elle set and traced the outline of the tag with a white marker.

 

And this is the last one. I forgot to include it in the "group shot". I masked that cute little basket and used one of the hearts from the set to make little apples. I also used the stitching lines to stamp a background.

 

And there you have it! Is this set versatile or what?

Take Note

Morning everyone! Remember my latest addiction to Papertrey Ink? Well, today I'm going to show you a couple of things I made with one of their most recent releases, the "Take Note" set. It's designed to create and decorate all kinds of notebooks and inspired in the ones Michelle Wooderson makes. And although it's initially designed to create 2.5 by 8 inches notebooks, you can really make them different sizes. I made a traditional one and a smaller one (3 by 4.25 inches). The smaller one is a ready made notebook that I just covered with some Cosmo Cricket patterned paper from the Jolly by Golly collection (so cute!!!!!!) and then embellished using the Take Note sets.

 I think these make great stocking stuffers for Xmas and if I find the time to do so, I may make a few of them to give to friends and family, maybe along with this beyond-cute pencils that Jennifer McGuire shows here.

The most clever stamp set ever!

Hi! Just a quick post today, as I'm in the middle of moving from Uruguay to Spain. I'm so exhausted that I need a new word for exhausted. But before collapsing on the coach, I wanted to show you a super easy card made with Papertrey Ink and Hero Arts stamps. I recently discovered PTI and I'm completely in love with the brand. Beautiful and very clever designs, to say the least! And one of my firts purchases was the Guide Lines set, which I used on this card to create the central design. Nichole Heady, who is one the co-owners of PTI and the soul of the company, I must say,  tells you about this set so much better than I ever could do it. So read it here. All I will tell you is that it's a really clever and fun concept. And very relaxing to use too ;)

The card I created is for Halloween. Some embossing, a couple of eyelets and there you go!

Have yourself a Merry (vintage) Little Christmas... and a giveaway

Good morning and welcome to Christmas in August! When lovely Lorraine from the Simon Says Challenge Design Team asked me to create a card as their guest designer for this week I almost couldn't believe it! It has been a big honour for me and I hope you like what I've created. I feel also very lucky to have been asked precisely for this week, the subject being... Christmas in August!! I love Christmas. Yeah, almost everyone does. But I mean I LOVE it very much!!! And the most traditional, the better for me. Gimme me tinkering lights, snow, the scent of spices and cinnamon, clover and apples and gingerbread, gimme candy canes, silver bells and kisses under the mistletoe, gimme carols by Bing Crosby, Santas and dwarfs and reindeers and pines, and family gatherings and miracles. Gimme all of that and I'll be in heaven.
Ok, so this is the thing. I'd love to give away this card and the three cordinating gift tags (along with a couple of surprise supplies!) to one of the participants in this week's Simon Says challenge. Once the winner of the challenge has been announced next week  I'll myself pick a random winner between all the entries.
I put a lot of love in this creations because I knew they were going to travel to another crafter's hands. I used a few stamping techniques on them: distressing, distress inks, embossing resist and stamping with glitter.

Not so distressed

Morning everyone! Don't you love "good mail" days? Yesterday was one of those for me!!! Definitily a Christmas in july feeling...

Believe me, when you live so far away from anything scrapbooking related, it's a real party to get a nice delivery like this one. I got Hero Arts (my 1st design blocks!), Tim Holtz and Basic Grey stamps, five more distress ink colors, a couple of Colorbox chalk queues, two Bacis Grey paper pads (June Bug and Lemonade collections, just gorgeous!), a Perfect Pearls kit, Tim Holtz mini masks, some embossing powders and a big glue pad. So I'm very, very happy!

Not distressed at all... unlike today's card, for the Simon Says Challenge. This week it's all about distressing, which is perfect with all the new goodies I have now around here. For the card I played with distress inks, water and perfect pearls which give a lovely subtle shine to the background. Not sure if it shows in the pic though... but I promise in real life it looks beautiful :)

The butterfly is from a Basic Grey set called Flutter. The dots background is courtesy of one of my new Hero Arts designblocks and the patterned paper stripe is also from Basic Grey's Lemonade collection. Those papers are super pretty! I'm really tempted to use them to decoupage some furniture piece.

Oh, and by the way, wouldn't you love to be at CHA in Orlando? I keep seeing all the new lines and they're awesome! So far I'm in love with some of the new Prima flowers - in my mind I can see pretty necklaces sporting those fabric flowers-, with the fun Cosmo Cricket Xmas line and of course with almost everything Hero Arts and Tim Holtz are introducing there.


 So, who would want to be at Disneyworld when you can be at CHA? Lol!

I {HEART} HERO ARTS BLOG HOP

I'm back! This is my card for the Hero Arts Blog Hop organised by Ashley M. I used one of the critters stamps because I love how cute are ALL this animal sets, not just this one. I chose this because it happened to have two animals perfect for holding the banner ;)

1. Tell us your Hero Arts story. How did you get started using Hero Arts products?

Well, I've discovered HA very recently. I've been following Kristina Werner's blog for a while and she uses a lot of HA stamps in her cards, and I liked each and every of the designs she showed. And I'm also a big fan of Jennifer McGuire, who happens to be one of the HA Design Team members. So when I began buiding my stamps stash (also recently) I began ordering HA sets. Now I can't stop! Good quality, versatility and cuteness are some of their unbeatable qualities.

2. Hero Arts is full of great people. Tell us why you are thankful for Hero Arts!

That's easy: the education and the great customer community they've raised! I'm really thankful for their blog, so full of good ideas, techniques and challenges. I feel that they do care for the customers after they've purchased their products, not just until they do, like many other brands do. And the challenges are giving me the chance to learn a lot, try a ton of new techniques...

Color Inspiration #56

Good morning! Kristina Werner posted a new Color Inspiration challenge yesterday. I've struggled a bit with the colors, they're beautiful but also a lot!

 
So I tried to keep it clean and simple despite my desire to add more and more stuff because... yesterday was a good mail day and I got my order from Two Peas full of paper goodness, some embellies and even my Ranger crafts mat, which is awesome! Maybe later I can take a pic and post it.
For the sun I used a Sassafrass Lass sticker and adhered it to thick chipboard, then trimmed and added the custom painted brad. And the chicken... well, I love this stamp, it makes me laugh. Is it ok if a stamp makes you laugh? Am I going nuts? Ok, so the chicken was colored with some fluid chalk inks and a blender pen. And that's pretty much about this card. Super simple.

Loving Hero Arts

Good morning! Today I want to show you a card I made last weekend with my newly arrived Hero Arts stamps. It took them a while to get here but they're on my table at last! Now I'm (im)patiently waiting for my next order to arrive with some of the woodmonunted stamps in it. Hurry up, you postie!!

I discovered this brand not long ago and I've been falling in love with it not only for the lovely-versatile design and high quality of their stamps, but also for the great blog they host, so full of inspiration as well as education! So happy... and an owl for Simon Says challenge

Good evening! It seems someone above heard my rants because one of the boxes I was waiting for turned up on friday with loads of pretty patterned paper and some uber-cute stamps. Believe me, when you live as far as I do from any scrapbooking shop, getting a box of supplies to play with becomes a real party (which involved some wine too, hehe). This came from a lovely Etsy seller, you can check her shop here.

More than 300 patterned papers! I ordered 4x6 and 6x6 sizes so I could have a lot of patterns without excesive shipping cost. These are Sass Lass, K&Company, My Mind's Eye and DCVW.

So I'm very happy. Unfortunately yesterday I also received a letter from the uruguayan Customs about another box being held there. It seems I'll have to pay for this (really huge) one unless a miracle happens. Maybe some puppy tears will do the trick but what's sure is that I won't left that ugly building without my goodies. No I wont (as God is my witness, like Scarlet would say...).

And last but not least here's a card I made yesterday with my brand new stuff. It's for the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog. All the cards for this challenge will be delivered to sick children by Post Pals and Make a Child Smile. I think it's a beautiful initiative, so they can count me in. I haven't included a sentiment because I'd like to write something special inside.
